Warhawks fondly remember Mr. Rufus Woods, a 1967 graduate of NCCHS, who passed away over Winter Break. Mr. Woods was an amazing athlete. In his senior year, he was named to the All-State Basketball Squad. He will be always remembered for hitting one of the greatest shots in IHSA basketball tournament history, when he fired an off-balance, high-arching buzzer-beater from the sidelines to beat Waukegan 43-42 in the 1966 Regional Championship game at NCCHS.
