Elishua Johnson, a junior in the Healthcare Careers Pathway at NCCHS, was recently invited to speak at the Illinois 60 by 2025 in Springfield, IL. This is a network of communities in Illinois that are committed to the goal of ensuring that 60% of all adults have a college or career credential by 2025. This network is designed to meet the needs of communities that are working together to provide rigorous, real world learning in and out of the classroom. Elishua did a great job speaking at the dinner on January 26, 2016 and explained to the group how the Healthcare Careers Pathway is helping him pursue his goal to one day become a Neurosurgeon. Elishua, and the other presenting students, then had the opportunity to meet Governor Rauner who also spoke at the dinner. A team of educators and District 187 administration also presented at the conference and was highlighted as one of 5 leadership communities at the conference and recognized for the good work that is being done around career pathways.
