NCCHS Students and Staff Travel to Springfield

Elishua Johnson, a junior in the Healthcare Careers Pathway at NCCHS, was recently invited to speak at the Illinois 60 by 2025 in Springfield, IL. This is a network of communities in Illinois that are committed to the goal of ensuring that 60% of all adults have a college or career credential by 2025. This network is IMG_0653designed to meet the needs of communities that are working together to provide rigorous, real world learning in and out of the classroom. Elishua did a great job speaking at the dinner on January 26, 2016 and explained to the group how the Healthcare Careers Pathway is helping him pursue his goal to one day become a Neurosurgeon.  Elishua, and the other presenting students, then had the opportunity to meet Governor Rauner who also spoke at the dinner.  A team of educators and District 187 administration also presented at the conference and was highlighted as one of 5 leadership communities at the conference and recognized for the good work that is being done around career pathways.
